Room Makeover

by Molnár-Papp Orsolya Anna

Hey!

I promised to share my room makeover story, and since it wasn’t my easiest room makeover it took some time. Now I can show you a result, it’s not completely done yet, but here we go!

Everything started smooth and just as we planed…

We had an alluring paint, I love its color, it’s not too light, not too orange, not too pink, not too feminine, so just the right for us.

First thing on Sunday, we packed our clothes and stuffs. Most of them we stored under a pavilion right outside the front door. To pack all that stuff only took a few hours. We slept and stayed at my brother’s room, since he was at the university so that wasn’t a problem…

When finally all our stuff was out, on Monday my dad and Laci started to repair the walls and paint the room while I was at work.

The first, primer paint just dried when I got home, so I changed my clothes quickly and grabbed roller brush. Roller brushes makes the whole painting a lot more easier and quicker! The paint was amazing too, only one layer needed and we got a beautiful color!

Aaand this is when the problems started…

We removed the linoleum flooring and realized that the half of the wooden floor under the linoleum was damaged beyond recognition…So we had to remove it…

You can imagine how happy we were…It wasn’t planed at all. Removing the wooden floor meant more money and more time spent on only one room…Moreover my allergy tortured me all along, but I helped as much as I could.

Next day we went to buy the concrete and the new flooring. Luckily we found a beautiful flooring, so when we got back home, we started concreting.

What I still don’t understand is how just the half of the wooden flooring was damaged, the other half was in perfect condition (well not the color…).

The concreting and the waiting for the concrete to dry took another 1 day which was still not planed and we couldn’t do anything else…

Finally the concrete was dry, so the next was the depron insulation.

It looked funny…like a playground or something… 😀

To get the whole laminate floor together took us a whole afternoon, and all four of us was needed.

Isn’t it a beautiful color??

Anyway after we finished the floor we still had to find a bed, but at least now that was planed!

We’ve been searching for a bed for weeks by then and to tell the truth I almost gave up when mom find one that looked good, was the right size and had a prefect prize! Oh and just in time! 😀

It was the light at the end of the tunnel!

It was the hand of fate that my parents found a bed for themselves too, so my dad, my uncle and Laci brought both of the beds the same day!

Finally the room was painted, it had a floor and we had a bed, Laci still needed a desk, so once more, go to the store! It was the fastest and easiest decision, thank goodness!

When we started to move back our clothes and stuff I felt seriously relieved.

Isn’t it lovely? I love the colors, the bed, everything! Everything has its place!

This room had an unused door, so I used it as a shelf, so much more space!

And we both have our own desks, next to each other, so even when we work at home, we can be next to each other! 🙂

So we’re almost done with the whole room makeover, some more decoration, you know, to make it more cozy and homelike, and it’s complete!

Sadly since this room’s makeover took a week, we didn’t finish the house makeover..in fact we only started to repair and paint to walls of the bathroom. We still have to paint (and clean) the kitchen, the hallway, sitting room, the bathroom and my parent’s room…yeah, we still have some work to do. But I think the remaining rooms will be easier…at least I hope.

Did you ever had a makeover like this? Did you stayed calm? How did you managed to solve the problem? Tell me (or share) your makeover stories!
