It’s been over 20 days since our Wedding Day and it’s finally time to share it with you! Well, I have to say, what a day it was!
In my last post I was hope for a happy and excited after post, and honestly, it will be one! Also, I’m gonna share a ton of pictures!
Hopefully, the pictures in this post will inspire other brides-to-be and anyone who dreams about their Big Day!
Our Wedding Day
What I can definitely tell, I had a whole range of emotions on that day, started from calm, to excited, to anxious, to delighted, to absolute exhausted. All in all, I had fun, I was satisfied, but without a doubt, I was happy and relieved to get over it. (See, a whole range of emotions)
The weather was surprisingly pleasant in the morning, however, I knew it was gonna be one of the hottest days of the summer.
The preparations
I started my day at the cosmetician at 7 am to get my makeup done. She said I was the calmest bride she ever worked with, and that was because I decided to enjoy myself and focus on Us, despite anything that might happen. Anyway, she did an amazing job, my makeup was fascinating, it was natural, but highlighted my features and it was shimmering!
Just an hour later I was at my hairdresser where my parents just got their hair done, so does my fiancé. So I had some time on my hand and decided on relaxing and enjoying the chit-chat. She did her very best to tame my hair and curl it, but my hair decided against it over and over. In the end, after a ton of hairspray, over 40 bobby pin and 1.5 workhour later, my hair was done! Despite the humid and hot weather, my constant sweating (just to be honest) and my way-too-strong-to-tame hair, she did a stunning job!
We had a little over an hour to have a lunch and catch our breath before the madness begun. We decided on a hot bowl of instant ramen and after all
The photoshoot
After catching our breaths, we headed to the ceremony and reception venue to get dressed and start the photoshoot. I have to tell you, it was more difficult to get into the dress than it was in the salon. My mom helped me get dressed, besides how hard it was to lace it up properly (mainly because I couldn’t stop laughing), it was very special.
If you follow my Instagram, you probably know that my wedding bouquet and all the other wedding decoration flowers were artificial. I was absolutely satisfied with the quality and the look of them!
Oh, the first look! Laci was soo cute, his expression was priceless!
Besides the gorgeous photos, the edification of the day was that I realized I can get in, and get out of a car in a wedding dress without help, so I can use the restroom! ( I’m quite proud of myself, I was impressed!)
We visited the nearby city to get these shots.
Gyula is famous for the Almásy Mansion (above) and the Gyula Castle (below), both buildings are gorgeous and worth to visit! We knew we wanted to take some pictures in front of them!
The photoshoot flew by so quickly. We rushed back
The ceremony
Before we knew we stood in the door, ready to head out to walk down the aisle. That was the moment when I was the most anxious, not because I wasn’t sure about us, but because I just fully realized I was gonna marry the love of my life.
Honestly, my tears (happy tears) were streaming down my face the whole time. But I got the ‘I do’, the signature and everything right, so it didn’t matter. I was so happy.
The sand ceremony was beautiful, the only negative aspect of it was that my sand stuck in the bottle, so I had to gently hit it the whole time.
The wedding arch was absolutely stunning! The tulle and satin ribbons were floating in the gentle breeze, it was magical!
After the ceremony, we took the family, friend and group photos, and I throw the throwing bouquets! It was hilarious…
The wedding decoration
The decoration of the venue was a gift from my aunt and she wanted to surprise us, so we couldn’t see it until the reception. What she did was everything I wished for, it was absolutely stunning! She’s an amazing decorator!
I used the wedding invitation’s design in the reception program!
We used artificial peonies and baby’s breaths for the guest table centerpieces.
As wedding favors, we gave these cute boxes, with a rose shape and rose scented soap inside.
On the main table we had a Mr. & Mrs. sign in the centerpiece.
The table runners were mauve tulle ribbons and the table numbers stood in the centerpiece vase.
The reception
It was time for our first dance! I was so nervous, but thanks to Laci leading me, we managed to dance it perfectly.
We danced to the Waves of The Danube (André Rieu’ version)
The food
We had the dinner, and however all the food was absolutely divine, thanks to the heat, no one was really hungry.
The local kitchen, who cooked and served the dinner, did an amazing job with the whole menu and the gorgeous fruit ‘baskets’!
Despite the cake bars’ look, they were light, airy and refreshing after the dinner!
Also, we had a whole table just for the fruits and fruit salads. I have to tell, the fruit salads were the most popular that evening!
The little party bites were gone within minutes!
After the dinner the party started.
The cake
The next big moment of the evening was the wedding cake! We didn’t have a chance to see the cake before, and to be honest, I was a bit nervous about it, but it was absolutely perfect!
The top layer of the wedding cake was in the flavor of blackberry, the middle layer was a citrus cake, and the bottom layer was rich black forest!
The candlelight waltz
After the cake, it was time to change into our ‘newlyweds’ clothes. It’s a Hungarian tradition to have the last dance in our wedding clothes around midnight, then change and have the first dance in newlyweds clothes. It’s the candlelight waltz.
Around 2 am most of the guests said their goodbyes, we were about to close the night with some fun songs. By this time we were
Before we knew, it was over.
